1. Basic Definition

Hammer (Hammer Head): The key wear part of hammer crusher. It is mounted on the rotor disc via hammer pins. As the rotor rotates at high speed, the hammer head strikes ore by centrifugal force to complete crushing. Being a direct wear component, it requires regular replacement.

2. Main Materials (Frequently used in foreign trade)

High Manganese Steel / Mn13 Excellent toughness and resistance to heavy impact; suitable for limestone and large lump ore. Moderate wear resistance under low-impact conditions, relying on work hardening.

High Chrome Cast Iron (Cr20 / Cr26, the grades you previously noted) High hardness and superior wear resistance; suitable for sand and aggregate production. Relatively brittle, not recommended for large lumps under heavy impact.

Bimetallic Composite Hammer Tough base material for the hammer shank + high-chrome wear-resistant layer on the hammer tip. Balances impact resistance and wear performance. It is a mainstream upgraded option for mining and sand industries with many overseas inquiries.

Alloy Forged Hammer Manufactured by forging with dense microstructure and low fracture risk. Mostly used for coal crushing in medium & small hammer crushers.

3. Process Classification

Cast hammer: Most high-chrome and composite hammers. Moderate cost and flexible shape design. Forged hammer: Better impact toughness and fracture resistance, with higher unit price.

4. Applicable Equipment & Materials

✅ Suitable: Hammer Crusher, for medium brittle materials: limestone, coal, gypsum, construction waste, coal gangue. ❌ Not recommended: Extremely abrasive hard ores (granite, basalt), which will wear hammers rapidly. Such working conditions usually adopt cone crusher, jaw crusher + impact crusher (blow bar).

Key distinction: Hammer = Hammer crusher hammer head, hinged and suspended on rotor and free to swing. Blow bar = Impact crusher blow bar, rigidly fixed on rotor. These two terms are often confused by overseas customers.
