Ⅰ. Basic Definitions
- Concave (Bowl Liner) Installed inside the upper adjustment ring of the crusher, it remains stationary. Shaped like an inverted bowl with an inward‑curving profile, it forms the outer wall of the crushing chamber. Chinese aliases: bowl liner, fixed cone liner.
- Mantle Mounted on the main‑shaft cone head, it performs eccentric gyratory motion (not pure rotation). With an outward‑convex profile, it constitutes the inner wall of the crushing chamber. Chinese aliases: moving cone liner.
Working principle: Ore falls into the chamber between the two parts. The gyratory mantle squeezes and impacts stones repeatedly against the stationary concave. Rocks are crushed and discharge through the bottom setting opening.
Failure Judgment & Replacement Timing
- After liner wear, the crushing chamber profile deforms. Reduced throughput, coarser product size and increased flaky particles occur, which cannot be effectively improved even by closing the closed‑side setting (CSS). In such case, liners need replacement.
- Immediate shutdown and replacement are required once local grooves, cracks or spalling emerge, to avoid severe crusher damage caused by broken fragments.
- Industry practice: Concave and mantle shall preferably be replaced as a matched set. Mixing new and worn liners results in distorted chamber profile and drastically shortened service life.
