HEAT TREATMENT

After casting, crusher wear parts have residual casting stress, coarse grain structure and unsatisfactory metallographic structure. Heat treatment does not change part dimension or weight, it only modifies the internal metal microstructure.

Main functions:

  1. Relieve casting residual stress to prevent cracking and chipping in service.
  2. Balance hardness and toughness: wear‑resistant surface plus impact‑resistant substrate against breakage.
  3. Refine grain structure, remove harmful carbides and realize full material performance.
  4. Ensure consistent performance across batches.

For high‑manganese steel parts: water‑toughening treatment produces austenite structure, providing good work‑hardening property. The surface hardens under impact for better wear resistance. For high‑chromium cast iron parts: quenching + low‑temperature tempering delivers high wear resistance while releasing quenching stress to avoid fracture.

Qualified chemical composition alone cannot guarantee good parts. Proper heat treatment directly determines service life of wear parts.
